\subsubsection{Healing a Man Born Blind}
\VS{1} And passing by he saw [a] person\fnAnthropos{} blind from birth. 
\VS{2} And his disciples asked him saying: 
Rabbi, who sinned, this [person] or his parents, that he be born blind? 
\VS{3} \Iesous answered: 
Neither this [man] sinned nor his parents, 
but [rather] that the works of God be manifested in him. 
\VS{4} We must be working the works of him having sent me while it is day; 
when night comes you are not able to be working. 
\VS{5} While I be in the world\fnKosmos{}, I am [the] light of the world. 
\VS{6} Having said these [things] he spat on the ground 
and made clay from the spit, and spread the clay on [his] eyes, 
\VS{7} and said to him: 
Be going, wash in the pool of \Siloam, which is being translated: 
[The one] having been sent. 
He went out therefore and washed, and he came seeing. 
\VS{8} So the neighbors and those seeing him formerly, 
that he was [a] beggar, were saying: 
Is this not the [one] sitting and begging? 
\VS{9} Others were saying that, 
This is he, others were saying: 
No, but he is like him. 
That [one] was saying that: I am he. 
\VS{10} They were therefore saying to him: 
How were your eyes opened? 
\VS{11} He answered: 
The man being called \Iesous made clay 
and spread [it on] my eyes and said to me: 
Be going to \Siloam and wash. 
Having gone therefore and having been washed I saw again. 
\VS{12} And they said to him: 
Where is he? He says: I do not know. 

\subsubsection{The Pharisee's Reaction to the Healing}
\VS{13} They bring him to the Pharisees, the [one] once blind. 
\VS{14} Now it was [the] Sabbath on the day \Iesous made the clay and opened his eyes. 
\VS{15} Again therefore the Pharisees were asking him how he saw again. 
So he said to them: 
He placed clay on my eyes, and I washed myself, and I see. 

\VS{16} Some therefore of the Pharisees were saying: 
He is not from God, 
because he does not keep the Sabbath. 
But others were saying: 
How is [a] sinful person\fnAnthropos{} able to be doing such signs? 
And there was [a] division among them. 
\VS{17} So they say again to the blind [one]: 
What do you say concerning him, 
since he opened your eyes? 
But he said that: He is [a] prophet. 

\VS{18} So the Jews did not trust concerning him that he was blind 
and has regained sight until they called the parents of him having seen again, 
\VS{19} and asked them saying: 
Is this your son, whom you say was born blind? 
How then does he now see? 
\VS{20} His parents therefore answered and said: 
We know that this is our son and that he was born blind. 
\VS{21} But how he now sees we do not know, 
or who opened his eyes we do not know. 
Ask him, he has maturity\fnMaturity{}, he will speak for himself. 
\VS{22} His parents said these [things] because they were fearing the Jews. 
For the Jews were already agreed that if anyone professed him [to be] the Anointed\fnChristos{} [One], 
he become expelled from the synagogue. 
\VS{23} Because of this did his parents say that: 
He has maturity\fnMaturity{}, ask him. 

\VS{24} So they called the man who was blind [a] second time, 
and said to him: 
Give [the] glory to God, for we know that this [one] is [a] sinful person.%

\VS{25} He therefore answered: 
If he is [a] sinner I do not know. 
One [thing] I know, that being blind I now see. 
\VS{26} They said therefore to him: 
What did he do to you? How did he open your eyes? 
\VS{27} He answered them: I told you already and you did not hear: 
Why do you want to be hearing again? Do you too want to become his disciples? 

\VS{28} And they reviled him and said: 
You are his disciple, but we are disciples of \Moses. 
\VS{29} We know that God has spoken in \Moses, 
but we do not know whence he is. 
\VS{30} The man answered and said to them: 
But in him is [an] amazing [thing], 
that you do not know whence he is, and he opened my eyes. 
\VS{31} We know that God does not hear sinners, 
but if anyone be godly and do his will, he hears him. 
\VS{32} From the age[s]%

it has not been heard that anyone opened [the] eyes of [one] born blind. 
\VS{33} If he was not from God, 
he would \negd{not} be able to be doing anything. 
\VS{34} They answered and said to him:
You were born entirely in sins, and you teach us? And they threw him out. 

\subsubsection{The Man's Response to \Iesous}
\VS{35} \Iesous heard that they threw him out, and having found him he said: 
Do you trust in the Son of Humanity\fnAnthropos{}? 
\VS{36} He answered and said: 
And who is he, Lord, that I trust in him? 
\VS{37} \Iesous said to him: 
You have seen him and the [one] speaking with you is he. 
\VS{38} So he said: I trust, Lord, and he worshipped him. 
\VS{39} And \Iesous said: 
For judgment did I come into the world, 
in order that those not seeing may see, and those seeing may become blind. 
\VS{40} Those of the Pharisees being with him heard these [things], 
and said to him, Are we also blind?\fnGrammarIndicatesNo{}
\VS{41} \Iesous said to them: 
If you were blind, you were not having sin. 
But now you say: We see. Your sin abides.
