\subsubsection{Washing the Disciples Feet}

\Iesous knowing that his hour had come in order that he depart out of this world\fnKosmos{} to the father, 
having agape-loved his own in the world, he agape-loved them to the end\footnote{the Greek idiom here translated ``to the end'' can also mean ``completely.'' 
See the verb form of this word used in \myxref{\John}{19}{30}: ``It is ended.'' or ``It is finished/completed.''}. 
\VS{2} And dinner coming to pass, 
the devil\fnDiabolos{} having already cast into the heart [of] \Ioudas \Simon \Iscariot 
in order that he deliver him up, 
\VS{3} having known that the father gave to him everything into his hands, 
and that from God he had come and to God he returns, 
\VS{4} he arises from dinner and puts [aside] his garments, 
and having taken [a] cloth he tied [it] around himself. 
\VS{5} Then he pours water into the basin and began to be washing the disciples' feet 
and wiping [them] with the cloth that he had tied around himself. 

\VS{6} He comes to \Simon \Petros; he says to him: Lord, do you wash my feet? 
\VS{7} \Iesous answered and said to him: 
What I do you now you do not know, but you will know after these [things]. 
\VS{8} \Petros says to him: You will \negd{not} wash my feet to eternity. 
\Iesous answered him: If I do not wash you, you have no part with me. 
\VS{9} \Simon \Petros says to him, Lord, not only my feet but also my hands and head! 
\VS{10} \Iesous says to him, The [one] having bathed does not have need 
except [for] his feet to be washed, but is wholly clean. 
And you [all]\fnYouPlural{} are clean, but not all [of you]. 
\VS{11} For he had known the [one] delivering him up; 
because of this he said that not all [of you] are clean. 

\VS{12} When therefore he washed their feet and took his garments and reclined again, 
he said to them: Do you know what I have done to you? 
\VS{13} You call me the Teacher and Lord, and you say well, for I am. 
\VS{14} If therefore I the Teacher and the Lord washed your feet, 
you also ought to be washing each other's feet. 
\VS{15} For I have given [the] example to you in order that just as I did to you, you do also. 
\VS{16} Truly truly I say to you, the slave is not greater than his lord, 
nor [one] sent greater than the [one] having sent him. 
\VS{17} If you know these [things], blessed are you if you do them. 

\subsubsection{The Announcement of \Iesous' Betrayal}
\VS{18} Not concerning all [of you] do I speak. 
I know whom I have chosen; but in order that the scripture be fulfilled\footnote{Ps.41:9}:

Lifted up his heel against me. 
\end{verse}

\VS{19} From now [on] I tell you before [it] comes to pass, 
in order that when it comes to pass you trust\fnPistisJohn{} that I am [He]. 
\VS{20} Truly truly I say to you, the [one] receiving whom I send receives me, 
and the [one] receiving me receives the [one] having sent me. 

\VS{21} Having said these [things] \Iesous was troubled in [his] spirit 
and witnessed and said: Truly truly I say to you that one [of you] will give me over. 
\VS{22} The disciples therefore were looking to one another being-at-[a]-loss concerning what he says. 
\VS{23} One of his disciples was reclining on \Iesous' lap\footnote{or 'bosom'}, whom \Iesous agape-loved. 
\VS{24} \Simon \Petros therefore beckoned to him to inquire of whom he speaks about. 
\VS{25} He thus reclining upon \Iesous chest says to him: Lord, who is it? 
\VS{26} \Iesous therefore answered: That is he to whom I will dip the morsel and give to him. 
Having therefore dipped the morsel he takes and gives [it] to \Ioudas \Simon \Iscariot. 
\VS{27} And after the morsel then \Satan entered into him. 
\Iesous therefore says to him: What you do, do quickly. 
\VS{28} But no one of those reclining knew what reason he spoke this to him. 
\VS{29} For some were supposing, since \Ioudas had the money box, 
that \Iesous says to him: Buy what we need for the festival, 
or in order to give something to the poor. 
\VS{30} He therefore taking the morsel, immediately went out. Now it was night.

\subsubsection{The Prediction of \Petros's Denial}
\VS{31} When therefore he went out, \Iesous says: 
Now is the Son of Humanity\fnAnthropos{} glorified, 
and God is glorified in him. 
\VS{32} [If God is glorified in him]\footnote{omit: text: \papyrus{66}\sinaiticus{}BDW; include: \koine{} \vulgate{} } 
God will also glorify him in himself, and immediately will he glorify him. 
\VS{33} Children, yet [a] little [while] am I with you. 
You will seek me, and just as I said to the Jews that where I go you are not able to come, 
I also say to you now. 

\VS{34} [A] new commandment I give to you, that you be agape-loving one another; 
just as I agape-loved you, be agape-loving one another. 
\VS{35} By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have agape-love for one another. 

\VS{36} \Simon \Petros says to him: Lord, where do you go? 
\Iesous answered: Where I go you are not now able to follow, but you follow later. 
\VS{37} \Petros says to him: Lord, why am I not able to follow you now? 
I will give my psyche-life\fnPsyche{} in your behalf. 
\VS{38} \Iesous answered: 
You will give your psyche-life\fnPsyche{} in my behalf? 
Truly truly I say to you, the rooster will \negd{not} crow until you deny me thrice.
