\subsection{I Corinthians 8}
\VS{1} Now concerning [things] offered to idols, we know that we have all knowledge. 
Knowledge puffs up, but agape-love builds up. 
\VS{2} If anyone supposes he 
knows\footnote{or ``seems to know''} anything, he has not yet known just as 
he must know. 
\VS{3} But if anyone agape-loves God, this [one] is known by him. 
\VS{4} Concerning therefore the food offered to idols, we know that [an] idol in 
the world is nothing, and that no one [is] God except one. 
\VS{5} For though 
there are [those] called gods whether in heaven or upon earth, even as there are many gods and many lords, 
\VS{6} to us [there is], however, one God the father, from 
whom [is] everything, and we through him. 
\VS{7} But [this] knowledge is not in 
everyone; for some, in the habit, eat of the idol as food offered to idols, 
and their conscience being weak, they are polluted. 
\VS{8} But food does not 
bring us to God, neither if we do not eat are we the worse, nor if we eat 
are we the better. 
\VS{9} But seeing [that] this authority [of yours] not somehow become 
[an] offense to the weak. 
\VS{10} For if anyone see you, the [one] having knowledge, 
lying in the idol's temple, won't his conscience being weak be built up to 
be eating the [things] offered to idols? 
\VS{11} For the [one] being weak will be ruined 
by your knowledge, the brother in whose behalf Christ died. 
\VS{12} So thus 
sinning against the brothers and beating their conscience you sin against 
Christ. 
\VS{13} Wherefore if food stumbles my brother, I will \negd{not} eat meat to eternity, in order that I not stumble my brother.
