\subsection{Mark 5}
\subsubsection{Healing of the Demoniac}
\VS{1} And they came to the other side of the sea to the region of the Gerasenes. 
\VS{2} And when he came out of the boat straightway [a] man met him with [an] 
unclean spirit 
\VS{3} who had his dwelling among the graves; neither chain 
nor anyone [at all] were able to bind him, 
\VS{4} because often he had been bound 
with shackles and chains, and had torn from himself the chains, and had 
smashed the shackles, and no one was strong [enough] to subdue him. 
\VS{5} And day 
and night among the tombs and in the mountains he was crying out and cutting 
himself with stones. 
\VS{6} And seeing Iesous from afar he ran and worshipped him. 
\VS{7} And crying out in [a] loud voice he says: What have you to do with 
me\footnote{literally ``What [is] to you and to me?"}, Iesous son of the most high 
God? I implore you by God, [that] you not torment me. 
\VS{8} For he was saying to 
him: Throw the unclean spirit out of the man. 
\VS{9} And he asked him, What 
is your name? And he says: Legion is my name, for we are many. 
\VS{10} And he called upon him much that he should not send them out of the region. 
\VS{11} Now there was on the mountain [a] great herd of swine grazing. 
\VS{12} And they called upon him saying: Send us into the swine, that we may enter 
into them. And he sent them. 
\VS{13} And when the unclean spirits went out 
they entered into the swine, and the herd rushed headlong down the bank into 
the sea, as two thousand, and drowned. 

\VS{14} Now those grazing them fled 
and reported [it] in the city and in the country, and they came to see what is 
this [thing that] came to pass. 
\VS{15} And they came to Iesous, and they beheld the 
demon possessed [one] sitting being clothed and being of sound mind, the [one] who had 
the legion, and they were afraid. 
\VS{16} And those who had seen related to 
them what came to pass to the demon possessed [one] and concerning the swine. 
\VS{17} And they began to be calling upon him to depart from their region. 
\VS{18} And while he embarked in the boat [the] demon possessed [man] called upon him 
that he may be with him. 
\VS{19} But he permitted him not, but says to him: 
Be going into your city to your own, and report to them all that the Lord 
has done for you, and had mercy on you. 
\VS{20} And he departed and began to 
be preaching in the Decapolis\footnote{``the Ten Cities''} all that Iesous did 
for him, and they all marveled. 

\subsubsection{Restoration and Healing}
\VS{21} And when Iesous crossed over in the boat again on the other side was 
gathered [a] great crowd upon him, and he was by the sea. 
\VS{22} And one of the chiefs of the synagogue comes; 
Jairus by name, and seeing him fell at his feet. 
\VS{23} And he calls upon him much saying that: My little daughter is near the end, 
[I beseech you]\footnote{or ``[I am here]"} in order that having come you lay your
hands on her, in order that she be saved and zoe-live\fnZoe{}. 
\VS{24} And he departed with him and [a] great crowd followed him, and pressed upon him. 

\VS{25} And [a] woman being in flow of blood twelve years 
\VS{26} and having suffered much from many physicians and having spent all she had, 
and having profited nothing but rather having become worse, 
\VS{27} having heard concerning Iesous, having come in the crowd from behind, 
she touched his robe. 
\VS{28} For she said that: If I even touch his garments, I will be saved. 
\VS{29} And straightway the fount of her blood was dried up, and [she] knew in her body 
that she was healed from her suffering. 
\VS{30} And straightway Iesous having known in himself [that] power had gone out of him, having turned around in the crowd he said: Who touched my garment? 
\VS{31} And his disciples were saying to him: You see the crowd pressing upon you, 
and you say: Who touched me? 
\VS{32} And he looked [about] [him] to see the [one] having done this. 
\VS{33} Now the woman having feared and trembling, having seen what came to pass to her, 
she came and fell before him and told him all the truth. 
\VS{34} But he said to her: Daughter, your belief has saved you. Be going in peace, 
and be healthy from your torment. 

\VS{35} While he was yet speaking, there came from the chiefs of the synagogue 
[those] saying that: Your daughter has died; why further trouble the teacher? 
\VS{36} Now when Iesous heard the word spoken he says to the 
chief of the synagogue: Be not fearing, only be believing. 
\VS{37} And he did not allow anyone to accompany him except Peter and James and 
Ioannes the brother of James. 
\VS{38} And they came into the house of the chief of the 
synagogue, and he see the distress, and weeping and much wailing, 
\VS{39} and having entered he says to them: Why are you distressed and weeping? The 
child has not died but sleeps. 
\VS{40} And they were ridiculing him. But he 
himself having thrown [them] all out he takes the father and mother of the child 
and those with him, and goes in where the child was. 
\VS{41} And having laid hold of the child's hand he says to her: Talitha koum, which is being 
translated: Maiden, I say to you, arise. 
\VS{42} And straightway the maiden stood up and walked, for she was twelve years. 
And they were astonished with great amazement. 
\VS{43} And he ordered them much that no one should know, 
and he said for her to be given [something] to be eating.
