\subsection{Philippians 1} \VS{1} Paul and Timothy, slaves of Christ Jesus, to all the holy [ones] in Christ Jesus who are at Philippi with the guardians and servants, \VS{2} grace to you and peace from God our father and [our] Lord Jesus Christ. \VS{3} I thank my God upon every remembrance [of you], \VS{4} always, in my every entreaty concerning you, making entreaty with joy, \VS{5} upon your fellowship in the good-news from the first day until now, \VS{6} having been persuaded of this very [thing], that the [one] having begun in you [a] good work will complete it until the day of Christ Jesus. \VS{7} Just as it is [a] just [thing] for me to be thinking this concerning you all, because of my having you in [my] heart, [since] both in my bonds and in [the] defense and confirmation of the good-news you are co-sharers of my grace. \VS{8} For God is my witness, how I long for you all in the affections of Christ Jesus. \VS{9} And this I pray, that your agape-love yet more and more increase in knowledge and in all insight, \VS{10} that you be proving\footnote{or ``testing'', ``approving''} the [things] being superior\footnote{or ``different''}, in order that you be sincere and blameless in [the] day of Jesus Christ, \VS{11} having been filled with [the] fruits of justness [which are] through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God. \VS{12} But I intend you to be knowing, brothers, that [the things which happened] to me have come rather to the progress of the good-news, \VS{13} so that my bonds in Christ are become manifest among the whole imperial guard and to all the rest, \VS{14} and more of the brothers in the Lord having been persuaded by my bonds are daring much more to be fearlessly speaking the word of God. \VS{15} Some indeed even on account of envy and strife, but some proclaim the Christ on account of good will. \VS{16} Some from agape-love, having known that to the defense of the good-news am I set, \VS{17} but the others from strife proclaiming the Christ, not purely, expecting to be raising [the] affliction of my bonds. \VS{18} What then? Except that in every place, whether in pretext or in truth, Christ is preached, and in this I rejoice, rather I will also rejoice. \VS{19} For I know that this will turn out for me to salvation through your entreaty and [the] support of the spirit of Jesus Christ. \VS{20} According to my eager-expectation and hope that in nothing will I be shamed, but in all boldness, as always, even now Christ will be made great in my body, whether through zoe-life\fnZoe{} or through death. \VS{21} For to me to zoe-live\fnZoe{} [is] Christ and to die [is] gain. \VS{22} But if zoe-living\fnZoe{} in the flesh, this [is] to me fruit of [my] work, and what I will choose, I do not know. \VS{23} For I torment between the two, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, which [is] rather far greater. \VS{24} But to be remaining in the flesh [is] more necessary on account [of you]. \VS{25} And having been persuaded of this I know that I will remain and continue with you all for your progress and joy of faith, \VS{26} in order that your boast abound in Christ Jesus for me on account of my presence again with you. \VS{27} Only be conducting yourselves worthy of the good-news of Christ, in order that whether coming and seeing you or being absent, I hear the [things] concerning you, that you stand in one spirit, in one psyche-life\fnPsyche{} co-struggling for the faith of the good-news, \VS{28} and being frightened in \negd{nothing} by your enemies, which is to them evidence of [their] destruction, but [of your] salvation, and this from God. \VS{29} For to you has been graced in behalf of Christ not only to be believing him but also to be suffering on account of him, \VS{30} having the same fight of which sort you saw in me and you now hear [to be] in me.
