> Show Me Your Ways
>> Show me your ways, LORD. Teach me your paths.
Occasion: Making a big move
Drawers are empty, Lord.
Boxes are stacked in the garage.
The room already sounds different.
Soon there will be another street,
another window,
another bed in another dark.
I feel the pull in both directions:
the hope of a new beginning
and the ache of leaving what has become comfortable.
Everything is changing, and I do not yet know
how I will belong in what comes next.
Show me Your path through this leaving.
Show me what to bring,
and what to leave behind.
A move stirs up fears ---
I make lists and plans,
but I cannot prepare myself for everything.
When I feel unsteady,
give me grace for the next small step.
Go before me into the new place ---
into the first night,
the bare floor,
the unopened boxes,
the strange morning light.
You were Lord in this room of yesterday.
Be Lord in the room of tomorrow too.
Amen.
