\subsection{Ephesians 4}
\VS{1} I therefore, the prisoner in the Lord, call upon you to walk worthy of the
calling with which you were called,
\VS{2} with all humblemindedness and
gentleness, with long-suffering, bearing with one another in agape-love,
\VS{3} being eager to keep the oneness of the spirit in the bonds of peace:
\begin{verse}
\VS{4} One body and one spirit \\
Just as you were called in one hope [of your] calling \\
\VS{5} One Lord, one faith, one baptism, \\
\VS{6} One God and father of everything, \\
Above all and through all and in all.
\end{verse}
\VS{7} So to each one [of you] was grace given you according to the measure of the
gift of Christ.
\VS{8} Therefore it says:
\begin{verse}
Having ascended to the height he led captivity captive, \\
He gave gifts to men.
\end{verse}
\VS{9} Now that he ascended, what is it except that he also descended to the
lower parts of the earth?
\VS{10} The [one] having descended is he himself who
also ascended above all the heavens, in order that he fulfill everything.
\VS{11} And he himself gave apostles, and prophets, and good-newsers, and
shepherds, and teachers,
\VS{12} for the equipping of the holy [ones] for the work
of [the] service, to the upbuilding of the body of Christ,
\VS{13} until we all
attain the oneness of the faith and the knowledge of the son of God, to [a]
complete man, to the measure of [the] stature of the fullness of Christ,
\VS{14} in order that we no longer be infants, tossed and carried by every wind of
teaching, by the sleight of men, [and] by cunning towards the stratagems of
deceit,
\VS{15} but being truthful in agape-love, let us increase in him
[in] everything, who is the head, [even] Christ,
\VS{16} from whom the whole body,
fitting together and joining together through the provision of every joint
according to the working in the measure of each single part, makes the
increase of the body to the upbuilding of itself in agape-love.
\VS{17} This
therefore I saw and I testify in the Lord, that you no longer be walking
just as the nations walk in the futility of their mind,
\VS{18} having
darkened in their intellect, being alienated from the zoe-life\fnZoe{} of God, because
of the ignorance being in them, because of the hardening of their hearts,
\VS{19} who, having become callous, have delivered themselves up to
sensuality for the practice of every uncleanness in greed.
\VS{20} But you did not thus learn Christ,
\VS{21} if indeed you heard him and were taught
in him just as the truth is in Jesus,
\VS{22} to put off [from] you concerning the
former manner-of-life the old man which is being corrupted according to the
lusts of deceitfulness,
\VS{23} to be renewing in the spirit [of your] mind,
\VS{24}
and to put on the new man having been created according to God in justness
and piety of the truth.
\VS{25} therefore having put off the false, be each
speaking truth with his neighbor, because we are members of one another.
\VS{26} Be being angry and be not sinning, let\fnImperative{} the sun
not set on your anger,
\VS{27} nor be giving place to the devil.
\VS{28} The
[one] stealing let\fnImperative{} him no longer steal, rather
let\fnImperative{} him be laboring, working with his own hands the
good [thing], in order that he have to be sharing with the [one] having need.
\VS{29} Be
letting no foul word be proceeding out [of your] mouth, but what [is] good towards the
upbuilding of need\footnote{``need" \koine \hesychian \sinaiticus{} B; ``belief" D \vulgate{} }, in order that
it give grace to those hearing.
\VS{30} And be not paining the spirit of
God, in which you were sealed for [the] day of redemption.
\VS{31}
Let\fnImperative{} every bitterness and passion and anger and shout
and slander be removed from you with every evil.
\VS{32} But become kind to
one another, tender-hearted, being gracious to each other just as even God
in Christ was gracious to you.
