> A Lamp to My Feet
>> Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path.
Occasion: Taking one step at a time
This day is enough, Lord.
The next step is enough.
I can't yet see tomorrow's path.
Teach me to live within the reach of Your lamp ---
one patch of ground,
one turn of path,
and not some great extent.
I keep reaching ahead,
trying to walk many steps at once,
and then I stumble over the one right in front of me.
You know how hard it is for me
to trust what I cannot yet see.
Keep the light small on purpose.
Let it show me only the step I'm on,
not the hill beyond it,
not the dark around the corner.
Give me enough courage for this present step,
and enough patience not to demand the next.
One step in the light.
Then another.
And another.
Amen. |
