Occasion: Learning to trust God's provision
Lord, You say You will provide,
but I keep reaching for control ---
checking the same account,
rehearsing the same fear,
trying to secure tomorrow with my own hands.
One unanswered question becomes ten,
and soon I am living inside a future
that has not even arrived.
And likjely never will.
I am tired of carrying it,
but I am afraid of what will happen if I let it go.
Teach me trust in small things.
Teach me to receive what comes today as Your care,
not as accident.
And when today does not seem like enough,
help me speak that fear plainly to You
instead of hiding it behind more planning.
Clinging feels like doing something.
It does not feed me.
So place before me the daily signs of Your keeping ---
water from the tap,
food on the plate,
strength for the next task,
sleep when the light goes out.
Let these ordinary gifts be enough for this moment.
Not proof that tomorrow will be easy,
but mercy I can receive now.
I keep trying to secure tomorrow.
You are securing me tonight.
Amen.
