%% 5

> I Will Sing to the Lord
>> I will sing to the LORD as long as I live. I will sing praise to my God while I have any being.
Occasion: Staying faithful in old age
Lord, the same stairs seem steeper.
The fork shakes inexplicably.
Words go missing mid-sentence.
But I am still here with You.
Some days I accept these changes.
Other days they frighten and frustrate me.
I miss what once came easily,
and I do not always know how to live
with needing more time and patience.
Teach me how to praise You at this slower pace.
Show me what faithfulness looks like
when the body does less
and the day grows quiet earlier.
Let me be honest about what has been lost
without overlooking what remains.
Do not let me believe the lie
that my best years were the only years
You could use.
That I am set aside
because I am no longer quick.
Give me grace for this day,
not the strength I had years ago,
but the strength I have now.
Give me a steady heart,
a chair by the window,
a psalm I can still pray.
The stairs take longer, Lord.
Keep my praise steady on every step.
Amen.
