> I am fearfully and wonderfully made
>> I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Occasion: Wonder at how I'm made
Lord, I stopped today
%v
to actually notice this body ---
the heart that keeps its own time for a lifetime,
the hand that knows how to hold a cup
without my thinking about it,
the eye that adjusts to light and darkness
without a thought on my part.
I did not design any of this.
I did not teach my lungs to breathe
or my skin to heal itself
when I wasn't watching.
I have spent so much of my life
managing this body,
caring for it,
comparing it,
rarely simply marveling at it.
Let me see what You saw
when You made it:
not an assignment,
not a flaw list,
but a wonder.
Every cell keeping its quiet appointment.
Every breath arriving right on time.
A design too intricate for me to have thought of myself,
too faithful for me to have earned.
I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Not because I am flawless,
but because You made me,
on purpose,
with care.
Thank You for this body.
Thank You for this one particular life
carried inside it.
Amen.
