> I Water My Couch With Tears
>> I am weary with my groaning; all the night make I my bed to swim; I water my couch with my tears.
Occasion: Loss of a child
Lord, there are no words for this.
I looked for them and found none.
At all.
The nights are the worst.
I lie awake and the house is too quiet
in a way it was never quiet before.
I am not going to pretend I understand.
I am not going to pretend this makes sense,
or that it will, ever.
I soak my pillow with tears.
That is not poetry to me.
That's just what happens most nights.
I don't need You to explain this.
I need You to stay with me
while I cannot stop weeping.
and not leave,
or rush toward being ``fine.''
Hold what I cannot hold.
Carry what I cannot carry.
I am so broken, Lord.
Stay with me in this darkness.
Amen. |
