\subsection{Romans 11}
\VS{1} I say therefore, has God rejected his people?\footnote{grammer indicates
``no'' answer expected or expresses uncertainty} May it not be! For I also
am Israelite, from [the] seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.
\VS{2} God
has not rejected his people whom he foreknew. Or do you not know what the
scripture says in Elijah, how he appealed to God against Israel?

\VS{3} O Lord, they have killed your prophets, \\
They have torn down your altar, \\
And I alone am left and they seek my psyche-life\fnPsyche{}.
\end{verse}
\VS{4} But what does the divine-answer say to him?
\begin{verse}
I have left to myself seven-thousand men, \\
Which have not bent\footnote{or ``bowed''} the knee to Baal.
\end{verse}
\VS{5} Thus therefore also in the opportune-time\fnKairos{} now is [a] remnant come to
pass according to [the] selection of grace.
\VS{6} But if by grace, [it is] no longer
from works, otherwise grace becomes no longer grace.\footnote{add: ``But if
by works, it is no longer grace since the work [is] no longer work.'' \koine{}; text:

\VS{7} What therefore? What Israel seeks, this [thing] it no longer
attained, but the election attained [it], but the rest were hardened.
\VS{8}
According as it is written:
\begin{verse}
God has given them [a] spirit of stupor, \\
Eyes that [they] not be seeing \\
And ears that [they] not be hearing \\
Unto this day.
\end{verse}
\VS{9} And David says,
\begin{verse}
Let\fnImperative{} their table become [a] trap and [a] snare \\
And [a] stumbling and [a] recompense to them. \\
\VS{10} Let\fnImperative{} their eyes be darkened that [they] not be seeing,
\\
And let\fnImperative{} their back be bent forever.
\end{verse}
\VS{11} Therefore I say, have they stumbled in order that they
fall?\footnote{grammer indicates ``no'' answer expected or expresses
uncertainty} May it not be! Rather by their transgression is salvation to
the nations, to provoke them to jealousy.
\VS{12} But if their transgression
[be the] wealth of [the] world, and their loss [be] the wealth of the nations, how much more their fullness?
\VS{13} So I say to you the nations, inasmuch as I am
apostle of the nations, I magnify my service,
\VS{14} if somehow I may
provoke to jealousy [those who are] my flesh and save some of them.
\VS{15} For if their
rejection [is the] reconciliation of [the] world, what [is] the reception [of them] except zoe-life\fnZoe{} from [the] dead?
\VS{16} But if the first-fruits [are] holy, the lump [is] also. And if the
root [is] holy, the branches [are] also.
\VS{17} But if some of the branches have
been broken off, and you being [a] wild olive have been grafted in among them
and have become partners of the roots of the fatness of the olive tree,
\VS{18} be not boasting against the branches. But if you boast, it is not
you [who] supports the root, but the root you.
\VS{19} You will say, therefore:
The branches were broken off in order that I be grafted in.
\VS{20} True,
they were broken off because of disbelief, but you stand because of belief.
Be not being high-minded, but be fearing.
\VS{21} For if God did not spare
the branches [which are so] by nature, neither will he spare you.
\VS{22} Behold therefore
the kindness and severity of God: Upon those having fallen --- severity, but
upon you --- [the] kindness of God, if you remain in [his] kindness, since you also
may be cut off.
\VS{23} But those also, if they be not remaining in
disbelief, they will be grafted in, for God is able to again graft them in.
\VS{24} For if you were cut off from the olive tree [which is] wild by nature and were
grafted in, contrary to nature, into [a] cultivated olive tree, how much more
rather will those by nature be grafted into their own olive tree?
\VS{25}
For I do not want you to be ignorant, brothers, of this mystery, in order
that you not be wise according to yourselves, that hardening is in part come
to pass to Israel until the fullness\footnote{or ``full number''} of the
nations come in.
\VS{26} And thus all Israel will be saved, just as it is
written:
\begin{verse}
The delivering [one] is present in Zion, \\
He removes ungodliness from Jacob. \\
\VS{27} And this [is] the covenant from me to them \\
When I take away their sins.
\end{verse}
\VS{28} On the one hand [they are], according to the good-news, enemies because of us,
but on the other hand [they are], according to selection, agape-beloved.
\VS{29} For
the kindnesses and the calling of God [are] irrevocable\footnote{or ``without
regret''}.
\VS{30} For as you were once disobedient to God, but now have
obtained mercy through their disbelief,
\VS{31} thus also these now have
been disobedient to your mercy in order that they also now obtain mercy.
\VS{32} For God has consigned them all to disbelief in order that he have
mercy upon all.
\VS{33} O [the] depth of [the] wealth and wisdom and knowledge of God,
how unfathomable are his judgments and inscrutable his ways.
\begin{verse}
\VS{34} For who has known [the] mind of [the] Lord? \\
Or who has become his counselor? \\
\VS{35} Or who has given to him in advance, \\
And it shall be given back to him?
\end{verse}
\VS{36} For from him and through him and to him are everything, to him [is] the
glory to the eternities, Amen.
