\subsubsection{Divorce}
|
|
\VS{1} And going up from there he goes to the region of \\Judea
|
|
and [the] other side of the \Jordan, and again crowds go with him,
|
|
and as he was accustomed he again was teaching them.
|
|
\VS{2} And Pharisees coming out asked him if it is allowed for [a] man\fnAner{} to put away his wife,
|
|
testing him.
|
|
\VS{3} But answering he said to them: What did \Moses command you?
|
|
\VS{4} So they said: \Moses tolerated [a] scroll of divorce\footnote{or ``departure''}
|
|
to write and to put [her] away.
|
|
\VS{5} But \Iesous said to them, For your hard-heartedness he wrote for you this commandment.
|
|
\VS{6} But from the beginning of creation:
|
|
|
|
\begin{verse}
|
|
He made them male and female. \\
|
|
\VS{7} For this reason [a] man will leave \\
|
|
his father and mother \\
|
|
And be united with his wife%
|
|

\VS{8} And they will be two into one flesh, \\
|
|
So that no longer are they two but one flesh. \\

\VS{9} What therefore God has yoked\footnote{or ``joined''} together \\

{}[A] person\fnAnthropos{} shall not sunder\fnImperative{}.
|
|
\end{verse}
|
|
|
|
\VS{10} And in the house his disciples again asked him [about] this.
|
|
\VS{11} And he says to them; Whoever puts away his wife and marry another,
|
|
commits adultery upon her.
|
|
\VS{12} And whoever having put away her husband marries another,
|
|
commits adultery.
|
|
|
|
\subsubsection{\Iesous and Little Children}
|
|
\VS{13} And they were bringing to him children in order that he touch them;
|
|
but his disciples were rebuking them.
|
|
\VS{14} And when he saw, \Iesous was indignant and said to them:
|
|
Permit the children to come to me, do not be hindering them;
|
|
for of such is the Kingdom of God.
|
|
\VS{15} Truly I say to you: whoever does not receive the Kingdom of God as [a] child,
|
|
he may \negd{not} enter into it.
|
|
\VS{16} And taking them into his arms he blesses them, laying his hands upon them.
|
|
|
|
\subsubsection{The Rich Man}
|
|
\VS{17} And when he went out into the road, [one] having run up and having knelt before him asked him,
|
|
Good teacher, what should I do in order that I may inherit eternal \zoe{}-life\fnZoe{}?
|
|
\VS{18} But \Iesous said to him: Why do you call me good? No one [is] good except one --- God.
|
|
\VS{19} You know the commandments: Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal,
|
|
do not bear false witness, do not defraud%
|
|

|
|
honor your father and mother.
|
|
\VS{20} But he said to him: Teacher, these [things] have I observed from childhood.
|
|
\VS{21} But \Iesous having fixed his gaze on him agape-loved him and said to him:
|
|
One [thing] you lack.
|
|
Be going, whatever you have sell and give to the poor,
|
|
and you will have treasure in heaven, and Come! Be following me.
|
|
\VS{22} But having been appalled upon this word,
|
|
he departed being deeply pained, for he was having many possessions.
|
|
|
|
\VS{23} And having looked [about], \Iesous says to his disciples:
|
|
How difficultly will those having possessions enter into the Kingdom of God.
|
|
\VS{24} But his disciples were being amazed at his words.
|
|
But \Iesous again answering says to them:
|
|
Children, How difficult it is for those trusting upon possessions%
|
|

|
|
to enter into the Kingdom of God.
|
|
\VS{25} It is easier for [a] camel to go through the eye of the needle
|
|
than for the rich to enter into the Kingdom of God.
|
|
\VS{26} But they were being exceedingly amazed saying among themselves:
|
|
And who is able to be saved?
|
|
\VS{27} Having fixed his gaze on them \Iesous says:
|
|
With man [it is] impossible, but not with God, for everything is possible with God.
|
|
\VS{28} \Petros began to be saying to him:
|
|
Behold we have left everything and have followed you.
|
|
\VS{29} \Iesous said: Truly I say to you,
|
|
there is no one who has left houses or brothers or sisters or mothers or fathers or wives
|
|
or children or fields because of me and because of the good-news,
|
|
\VS{30} who does not receive hundredfold now in this opportune-time\fnKairos{} houses and brothers
|
|
and sisters and mothers and children and fields with persecutions,
|
|
and in the coming age eternal \zoe{}-life\fnZoe{}.
|
|
\VS{31} But many first will be last, and the last first.
|
|
|
|
\subsubsection{Third Prediction of \Iesous's Death and Resurrection}
|
|
\VS{32} Now they were in the road going up into \Ieros,
|
|
and \Iesous was going before them, and they were being amazed,
|
|
and those following were fearing.
|
|
And having again called upon the twelve he began to be telling them the [things about] to happen to him,
|
|
\VS{33} that: Behold, we go up into \Ieros,
|
|
and the son of man will be delivered up to the chief priests and the scribes and
|
|
they will condemn him to death and will deliver him up to the Gentiles.
|
|
\VS{34} And they will mock him and spit on him and flog him and kill him,
|
|
and with three days he will arise.
|
|
|
|
\subsubsection{The Request of \Jacob\fnJacob{} and \John}
|
|
\VS{35} And \Jacob\fnJacob{} and \John the sons of \Zebedee came to him saying:
|
|
Teacher, we would that whatever we ask [of you], you do for us.
|
|
\VS{36} So he said to them: What do you want me to do for you?
|
|
\VS{37} And they said to him: Give to us that one on your right
|
|
and one on you left may sit in your glory.
|
|
\VS{38} But \Iesous said to them: You do not know what you ask.
|
|
Are you able to drink the cup that I drink, or to be baptized in the baptism with which I am baptized?
|
|
\VS{39} And they said to him: We are able.
|
|
But \Iesous said to them: The cup that I drink you will drink,
|
|
and the baptism with which I am baptized you will be baptized.
|
|
\VS{40} But to sit on my right or my left is not mine to give,
|
|
but [is] for whom it has been prepared.
|
|
|
|
\VS{41} And when the ten heard they began to be indignant concerning \Jacob\fnJacob{} and \John.
|
|
\VS{42} And calling upon them \Iesous says to them:
|
|
You know that the [ones] accounted to be ruling the nations lord it over them and the great of them tyrannize them.
|
|
\VS{43} It is%
|
|

|
|
not thus among you, but whoever would become great among you, he will be your servant,
|
|
\VS{44} and whoever would among you be first, he will be slave of all.
|
|
\VS{45} For even the son of man did not come to be served, but to serve and to give his psyche-life\fnPsyche{} [a] ransom for many.
|
|
|
|
\subsubsection{Healing Blind Bartimaeus}
|
|
\VS{46} And they came to \Jericho.
|
|
And having come out of \Jericho and his disciples and [a] large crowd, the son of Tim\'{a}ios,
|
|
blind Baptima\'{i}os the beggar, sat by the road.
|
|
\VS{47} And having heard that it is \Iesous the \Nazarene he began to be crying out and to be saying:
|
|
Son of \David, \Iesous, have mercy on me.
|
|
\VS{48} And many were rebuking him that he be silent;
|
|
but he rather was crying out more: Son of \David, have mercy on me!
|
|
\VS{49} And having stood [still] \Iesous said:
|
|
Call him. And they call the blind [man] saying: Be taking courage, be arising, he calls you.
|
|
\VS{50} And having thrown off his garment, having jumped up, he came to \Iesous.
|
|
\VS{51} And answering him \Iesous said: What do you want me to do for you?
|
|
And the blind [man] said: Rabbi, that I see.
|
|
\VS{52} And \Iesous said to him: Be going, your faith has saved you.
|
|
And immediately he saw, and followed him in the road.
|
