\subsubsection{The Triumphal Entry}
|
|
\VS{1} And having drawn near to \Bethphage and \Bethania to the Mount of Olives,
|
|
he sends two of his disciples
|
|
\VS{2} and says to them:
|
|
Be departing to the village opposite you,
|
|
and immediately proceeding into it you will find [a] colt bound upon whom no man has yet sat.
|
|
Loose it and be bringing [it].
|
|
\VS{3} And if anyone say to you: Why do you do this? say:
|
|
The Lord has need of it, and immediately he again sends them thither.
|
|
\VS{4} And they departed and found the colt bound to [a] door outside in the street, and they loose it.
|
|
\VS{5} And some of those who stood there were saying to them:
|
|
What are you doing loosing the colt?
|
|
\VS{6} But they said to them just as \Iesous said, and they permitted them.
|
|
\VS{7} And they bring the colt to \Iesous, and throw upon it their garments, and he sat upon it.
|
|
\VS{8} And many spread their garments in the street,
|
|
but others [spread] leafy branches having been cut in the fields,
|
|
\VS{9} And those preceding and those following were crying out\footnote{Ps.118:9--10},
|
|
|
|

|
|
Hosanna! \\
|
|
Blessed [is] he coming in the name of [the] Lord! \\
|
|
\VS{10} Blessed [is] the coming kingdom of our father \David! \\
|
|
Hosanna in the highest.
|
|
\end{verse}
|
|
|
|
\VS{11} And they entered into Jerusalem into the temple.
|
|
And having looked around [at] everything,
|
|
the hour already being late,
|
|
he went out to \Bethania with the twelve.
|
|
|
|
\subsubsection{Cursing of the Fig Tree}
|
|
\VS{12} And on the next day when they went out from \Bethania he hungered.
|
|
\VS{13} And seeing [a] fig tree from afar having leaves he came if then he will find something on it.
|
|
And having come upon it he found nothing on it except leaves,
|
|
for it was not the season\fnKairos{} for figs.
|
|
\VS{14} And answering he said to it:
|
|
No longer to eternity may anyone eat fruit from you. And his disciples heard.
|
|
|
|
\subsubsection{Cleansing the Temple}
|
|
\VS{15} And they come into \Ieros.
|
|
And having entered into the temple he began to be throwing out those selling
|
|
and those buying in the temple,
|
|
and he overturned the tables of the moneychangers and the seats of those selling doves.
|
|
\VS{16} And he did not allow anyone to bring anything through the temple,
|
|
\VS{17} and he was teaching and saying to them:
|
|
Is it not written that My house will be called [a] house of prayer by all nations?
|
|
But you have made it [a] den of robbers.
|
|
\VS{18} And the chief priests and the scribes heard,
|
|
and were seeking how they may destroy him;
|
|
but they were fearing him, for all the crowd was being astounded by his teaching.
|
|
\VS{19} And whenever it became late, he was%
|
|

|
|
going out of the city.
|
|
|
|
\subsubsection{The Withered Fig Tree}
|
|
\VS{20} And passing by early they saw the fig tree withered from the roots.
|
|
\VS{21} And \Petros having remembered says to him: Rabbi,
|
|
Behold the fig tree that you cursed has withered.
|
|
\VS{22} And answering \Iesous says to them: Be having%
|
|

|
|
trust\fnPistis{} in God.
|
|
\VS{23} Truly I say to you that whoever says to this mountain:
|
|
Be taken and be thrown into the sea,
|
|
and does not doubt\footnote{or ``hesitate} in his heart but believes that
|
|
what he says will come to pass, it will be to him.
|
|
\VS{24} Because of this I say to you,
|
|
everything whatever you pray and ask, be trusting\fnPistis{} that you have received%
|
|

|
|
and it will be to you.
|
|
\VS{25} And whenever you stand praying, forgive if you have anything against anyone,
|
|
in order that your father in the heavens forgive you.
|

But if you do not forgive, neither will your father in the heavens forgive your trespasses.

\subsubsection{The Authority of \Iesous}
|
|
\VS{27} And they come again into \Ieros.
|
|
And in the temple while he was walking [about] there came to him the scribes
|
|
and the Pharisees and the elders.
|
|
\VS{28} And they were saying to him:
|
|
In what sort of authority do you do these [things]?
|
|
Or who has given you this authority in order that you may do these [things]?
|
|
\VS{29} But \Iesous said to them:
|
|
I will ask you one statement, and you answer me,
|
|
and I will tell you in what sort of authority I do these [things].
|
|
\VS{30} Was the baptism of \John from heaven or from men? Answer me.
|
|
\VS{31} And they were reasoning among themselves saying:
|
|
If we say: From heaven, he will say, Why then did you not believe him?
|
|
\VS{32} But if we say:
|
|
From men --- they were fearing the crowd.
|
|
For all were having \John that truly he was [a] prophet.
|
|
\VS{33} And answering \Iesous they say: We do not know.
|
|
And \Iesous says to them: Neither do I tell you in what sort of authority I do these [things].
|
