\subsection{II Timothy 2}
\VS{1} You therefore, my child, be enabled in the grace [which is] in Christ Jesus,
\VS{2} and what you heard from me through many witnesses, these [things] commit to the
trustworthy men, who will also teach others.
\VS{3} Co-suffer as [a] good soldier of Christ Jesus.
\VS{4} No one soldiering entangles himself with the
affairs of living, in order that he please him having enlisted [him].
\VS{5} And if anyone compete, he is not crowned unless he competed lawfully.
\VS{6} The laboring farmer must first be sharing in the fruits.
\VS{7} Be considering
what I say, for the Lord will give to you understanding in everything.
\VS{8} Be remembering [that] Jesus Christ [was] raised from the dead, from the seed
of David, according to my good-news,
\VS{9} for which I suffer, [even] to bonds as
[an] evil-doer, but the word of God is not bound.
\VS{10} Because of this I
endure everything on account of the elect, in order that they also attain
[the] salvation [which is] in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
\VS{11} Trustworthy [is this] word:
If we co-died, we will also co-live;
\VS{12} if we co-endure, we will also
co-reign; if we will deny [him], he will deny us;
\VS{13} if we do not trust, he
remains trustworthy, for he is not able to deny himself.
\VS{14} Be reminding [them] of these [things],
warning them before God to be not fighting [about] words,
useful for nothing [except] for the destruction of those hearing.
\VS{15} Be earnest to present yourself approved to God, [a] worker
not-needing-to-be-ashamed, cutting-straight\footnote{ $\omega\rho\theta\omicron\tau\omicron\mu\epsilon\omega$ ORTHOTOMEO: literally 'to cut in a straight line' --- something that a tentmaker like Paul would know is very difficult to do.} the word of truth.
\VS{16} Be avoiding profane chatterings, for they advance to more impiety,
\VS{17} and their word will eat as [a] gangrene, of whom Humenaios and Philetus,
\VS{18} who concerning the truth have deviated, saying the resurrection has already come to pass, and they overturn the faith of some.
\VS{19} Nevertheless the firm foundation of God stands, having this seal:
\begin{verse}
[The] Lord has known those being his,
\end{verse}
and
\begin{verse}
Let\fnImperative{} them depart from unjustness \\
All those naming the name of the Lord.
\end{verse}
\VS{20} But in [a] great house there are not only vessels of gold and of
silver, but also of wood and earth, and some for honor and some for
dishonor;
\VS{21} if therefore anyone cleanse himself from these, he will be
[a] vessel for honor, made holy, useful to the master\fnDespotes(), prepared for every good
work.
\VS{22} Be fleeing youthful lusts, but be pursuing justness, faith,
agape-love, peace with those calling upon the Lord from [a] clean heart.
\VS{23} But avoid foolish and ignorant questions, knowing that they breed
fights.
\VS{24} But [the] slave of [the] Lord must not be fighting, but be gentle to
all, skillful-to-teach, bearing-evil-without-resentment,
\VS{25} in
gentleness instructing those being opposed, if God might give them
repentance to [the] knowledge of [the] truth,
\VS{26} and they come-to-their-senses from the snare of the devil, those captured by him for his will.
