Occasion: Stress from too many decisions
There are too many forks in the road today, Lord ---
what to answer,
what to delay,
what to keep,
what to let go.
Even small choices seem impossible.
My mind keeps spinning.
I am tired of rethinking what I've already decided,
and being afraid of overlooking what matters.
The multitude of my worries
leaves little room for peace.
Give me a clear mind.
Help me see which decisions need thought,
and which only need a simple yes or no.
Show me what I must decide today,
and what can wait without self-recrimination.
When I am worn thin,
I treat every turn like a test of my whole life.
Then I freeze,
or rush,
or fret over every step.
How do I trust a choice
when I can't see where it will lead?
Set me among quieter things ---
a clearer hour,
a shorter list,
a faithful next step.
Let Your comfort reach me
before every question is answered.
At these forks in the road,
keep me from standing frozen.
Lead me forward into Your path instead.
Amen.
