## 131:2
> I Have Quieted My Soul
>> Surely I have stilled and quieted my soul, like a weaned child with his mother; like a weaned child is my soul within me.
Occasion: When I can't stop worrying
Lord, my mind will not leave this alone.
I turn it over,
then turn it over again,
looking for something I missed,
some answer that will finally let me rest.
Knowing this doesn't slow the churning in my mind.
My thoughts keep racing ahead,
trying to prepare for conversations that haven't happened,
answers I don't yet have,
troubles that may never come.
Quiet me, Lord.
Not by answering every question.
Not by promising that everything will turn out as I hope.
Quiet me because I am here,
and You are here,
and this moment asks nothing more of me.
Let my mind put down what it keeps picking up.
Still my soul beside You,
like a child who no longer needs to understand ---
all that matters is where home is.
Amen. |
