every small sensation I would otherwise ignore.

Make my heart steady while I wait for what will be said.

Help me bear not knowing the name of this thing,

or whether there is a name to fear at all.

This waiting is hard, Lord.

I am tired of trying to prepare myself

for every possible answer.

I can feel my mind run ahead

into hard words,

hard numbers,

It spends strength I do not have.
