> Pour Out Your Heart
>> Trust in him at all times, you people. Pour out your heart before him. God is a refuge for us. Selah.
Occasion: When you have no one to talk to
Lord, there is no one I can reach tonight.
The evening is still.
I have gone through the names I know
and come up empty.
Some people would not understand.
They have burdens enough of their own.
And some things feel too tender,
too complicated,
or too hard to explain.
So I am speaking to You.
Take what I would say
if someone were here beside me.
Take the long part,
the tangled part,
the part I cannot say well.
I do not even know what I need ---
an answer, comfort,
or simply a voice that does not turn away.
I only know that carrying this alone
has made it heavier.
If I keep it shut in,
it will grow strange inside me.
It will start to sound like truth
just because it is loud.
Be company in this silence.
Give me Your listening ear.
Let me say everything without hurrying
toward a better ending.
And in time,
give me one safe person
from whom I do not have to hide.
This place may feel empty, Lord.
But You are always present anyway.
Amen.
