\subsection{II Thessalonians 2}
\VS{1} We ask\fnErotao{} you, brothers, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our
assembling to him,
\VS{2} that you be not swiftly shaken in mind nor be
frightened, neither through spirit nor through word nor through letter as
from us, as that the day of the Lord has come.
\VS{3} Let no one deceive you
in any manner, for [that day shall not come] unless the apostasy first come and the man of
sin\footnote{``sin": \koine{}D \vulgate{}, ``lawlessness": \sinaiticus{}B} be revealed, the son
of destruction,
\VS{4} the [one] opposing and raising himself above all being
called God, or object of worship, so that he sits in the temple of God,
showing himself that he is God.
\VS{5} Don't you remember that while being
with you I was saying these [things] to you?
\VS{7} And now you know the restraint,
to the end that he be revealed in his time.
\VS{7} For the mystery of
lawlessness already works; only the restraint [will] now [continue] until it be taken out of
the midst.
\VS{8} And then the lawless [one] will be revealed, whom the Lord
Jesus will slay with the spirit of his mouth, and will abolish the
appearance of his coming,
\VS{9} whose coming is according to the working of
satan with all ability and power and false wonders,
\VS{10} and in all
deception of unjustness to those perishing, because they did not receive the
agape-love of truth to the end that they be saved.
\VS{11} And because of
this God sends to them the working of deception to the end that they believe
in the false,
\VS{12} in order that all those not having believed in the
truth, but having taken pleasure in the unjust, be judged.
\VS{13} But we
ought to be thanking God always concerning you, brothers agape-beloved by
[the] Lord, because God has chosen you [to be] first-fruits for salvation by [the]
holyfication of [the] spirit and [the] belief of [the] truth,
\VS{14} for which he called
you through our goodnews, for the obtaining of [the] glory of our Lord Jesus
Christ.
\VS{15} Therefore, brothers, stand [fast], and be holding to the
traditions which you were taught, whether through word or through letter.
\VS{16} Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our father, the [one] having
agape-loved you and having given eternal encouragement and good hope in
grace,
\VS{17} encourage your heart and establish [it] in every good work and
word.
