> What Will I Give To The LORD?
>> What will I give to the LORD for all his benefits toward me?
Occasion: When I'm grateful but don't quite know how to say it
Lord, thank You.
Saying that seems too small,
but it's what I have.
There are gifts I can name
and others I only feel:
a fullness,
a quiet gladness,
the sudden knowledge
that I have been given more
than I know how to fully appreciate.
I could try to make a list.
Perhaps I should.
But gratitude is larger than any list.
I cannot repay goodness
by being sufficiently thankful for it.
I cannot balance some account
between Your giving and gratitude.
So let me simply receive.
Let gratitude make me generous,
more attentive,
quicker to notice what is good
and slower to imagine I am owed anything.
What can I give You
for all You have given me?
For now,
these inadequate words will have to suffice:
Thank You.
Amen.
