## 112:7

%% 4
> His Heart is Steadfast
>> He will not be afraid of evil news. His heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD.
Occasion: After hearing bad news
Lord, the words still echo ---
the silence after hearing them,
the whole day bent around one sentence.
Hold me where the news has struck.
I do not yet know what all of this will mean,
and I am afraid of what may come.
Don’t let my mind run ahead of what I know.
I can build ten sorrows from one hard fact.
I can lie down with dread as if it were a blanket.
I can expect the night to answer questions it cannot.
You know how difficult it is to stop worrying,
to stop preparing for every possible grief.
My body is tired,
but my thoughts will not be still.
Give me peace for this one night.
Give me enough trust to sleep before anything is solved.
Enough safety to unclench my hands
and let tomorrow remain with You.
The heavy words still echo in the room.
You are still in the room.
Stay with me through the dark,
and keep me while I sleep.
Amen.
