> Establish The Work Of Our Hands
>> Let the favour of the Lord our God be on us. Establish the work of our hands for us. Yes, establish the work of our hands.
Occasion: When I don't want to do what needs doing
Lord, I know what needs doing.
I simply don't want to do it.
I'd rather postpone it,
find something easier,
something pleasant,
something that gives me the satisfaction
of having done something
without doing what really needed to be done.
But this task is mine.
So meet me here,
not in some sudden burst of enthusiasm,
but in my reluctance.
Establish the work of my hands.
Help me begin before I feel ready.
Keep me at it when my resolve wanders.
Give me patience with work
that is ordinary,
unnoticed,
and necessary.
Not everything worth doing
comes with inspiration.
Sometimes faithfulness is simply
putting my hands to the task before me.
These are my hands, Lord.
This is today's work.
Establish it.
Amen. |
