> That You Think of Humanity
>> What is man, that you think of him? What is the son of man, that you care for him?

Occasion: Feeling small in a big world
The night feels too wide, Lord.
The sky looms over my head.
The road before me stretches to the horizon.
Even on the map on my phone I'm just a tiny blue dot.
Sometimes the size of everything unsettles me.
So many people, so many places,
Almost everything happening is beyond what I can see or grasp.
I wonder how one life can be noticed,
how my ordinary joys and fears
could matter at all.
Show me that small is not lost.
Show me that being one life in a multitude
does not put me outside Your care.
I can start to think I am a speck
and then act like what I do does not matter.
I become careless with this day,
or afraid that nothing I offer will be enough.
Set me back inside Your sight.
Not above anyone else,
not larger or more important,
but known.
And held.
Let me live this one small day on purpose,
with my feet on this ground,
and my breath received from You.
Help me give my attention to what is mine to do,
and trust You with all that is beyond me.
The night is wide, Lord.
Your care is wider.
Amen.
