\subsection{Mark 6}
\subsubsection{Rejection at Nazareth}
\VS{1} And he went out from there, and he comes to his native-land, and his 
disciples followed him. 
\VS{2} And the Sabbath having come to pass he began 
to be teaching in the synagogue. And many who heard were astounded saying: 
From where [are] these [things] to this [one], and what [is] this wisdom given to this [one that] even such 
powers through his hands come to pass? 
\VS{3} Is this not the carpenter, the 
son of Mary and brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon? And are not 
his sisters here with us? And they were stumbled in him. 
\VS{4} And Iesous 
was saying to them that: [a] prophet is not dishonored except in his own native-land, 
and among his relatives and in his own house. 
\VS{5} And he was not 
able to do any mighty work, except [a] few sick having laid on his hands he 
healed. 
\VS{6} And he marveled at their unbelief. And he went around [about] the 
villages teaching. 

\subsubsection{Sending out the Twelve Disciples}
\VS{7} And he called upon the twelve, and began to be sending them two by 
two, and was giving them authority over the unclean spirits. 
\VS{8} And he 
directed them that they should be taking nothing for the road except [a] staff 
only, no bread, no knapsack, no copper coin in the girdle, 
\VS{9} but having 
been shod with sandals, not wear two shirts. 
\VS{10} And he was saying to 
them: Wherever you enter [a] house, there be remaining until you depart from 
there, 
\VS{11} and whatever place should not receive you nor hear you, going 
out from there shake off the dust under you feet as [a] witness to them. 
\VS{12} And having gone out they preached in order that they repent, 
\VS{13} and many demons they were casting out, and they were anointing with oil many 
sick and were healing [them].

\subsubsection{The Death of Ioannes the Baptist}
\VS{14} And the king Herod heard, for his name had become known, and he 
was\footnote{``he was'' \hesychian{}\koine{}\sinaiticus{} \vulgate{} most; ``they were'' BW} saying that Ioannes 
the baptizing [one] is risen from the dead, and because of this the powers are at 
work in him. 
\VS{15} But others were saying that: He is Elijah, and others 
were saying that: [He is a] prophet like one of the prophets. 
\VS{16} Now when Herod 
heard he was saying: Ioannes whom I beheaded, this one arose. 
\VS{17} For Herod 
himself having sent laid hold of Ioannes and bound him in prison because of 
Herodias the wife of Phillip his brother, for he had married her. 
\VS{18} For Ioannes was saying to Herod that: It is not allowed for you to be having 
the wife [of your] brother. 
\VS{19} So Herodias was having [a] grudge against him and 
was wishing to kill him, and she was not able; 
\VS{20} For Herod feared 
Ioannes, seeing him [a] just and holy man, and protected him, and when he heard 
him did many [things]
\footnote{``did many [things]'' D\koine{} \vulgate{} many; ``was greatly unsettled'' 
B\sinaiticus{}}, and 
heard him gladly. 

\VS{21} And when [a] suitable day came to pass, 
when Herod on his birthday did [a] dinner for his chief men and high 
captains and the foremost of Galilee, 
\VS{22} and when the daughter of this Herod came in and danced, 
she pleased Herod and those who sat with him. So the king said to the girl: 
Ask of me whatever you wish, and I will give [it] to you. 
\VS{23} And he swore to her that: If you should ask I will give to 
you to half of my kingdom. 
\VS{24} And having gone out she said to her mother: What should I ask? 
And she said: The head of Ioannes the baptizing [one]. 
\VS{25} And immediately having gone in with haste to the king she asked 
saying: I wish that you give to me at once the head of Ioannes the baptist. 
\VS{26} And the king having become deeply grieved because of his oaths and 
those sitting with him did not wish to refuse her. 
\VS{27} And immediately the king having sent the executioner he commanded 
his head be brought. And having departed he beheaded him in the prison. 
\VS{28} And he brought his head upon [a] platter and gave it to the maiden, 
and the maiden gave it to her mother. 
\VS{29} And when the disciples heard of it they came and took his 
body and placed it in [a] grave. 

\subsubsection{The Feeding of the Five Thousand}
\VS{30} And the disciples are gathered to Iesous, and they report to him 
everything, whatsoever they did and whatsoever they taught. 
\VS{31} And he 
says to them: Come you yourselves, privately to the deserted place and rest 
[a] little. For those coming and going were many, and they had no opportunity 
to be eating. 
\VS{32} And they departed in the boat to the deserted place 
privately. 
\VS{33} And they saw them departing and many knew [him] and they ran 
together by land from all the cities and went before him. 
\VS{34} And having 
come out he saw [a] great crowd, and had compassion on them because they were 
as sheep not having [a] shepherd, and he began to be teaching them many 
[things]. 

\VS{35} And many hours already having come to pass his disciples having 
come to him were saying that: This place is deserted and already the hour 
[is] great. 
\VS{36} Disperse them, that having departed into the surrounding 
fields and villages they may buy for themselves something to eat. 
\VS{37} But answering he said to them: You yourselves give them to eat. And they say 
to him: Having gone shall we buy with two hundred denari loaves, and give to 
them to eat? 
\VS{38} But he says to them: How many loaves have you? Go see. 
And when they knew they say: Five, and two fish. 
\VS{39} And he commanded 
them to all lie down group by group, upon the green grass. 
\VS{40} And they 
reclined group by group, according to [a] hundred and according to fifty. 
\VS{41} And taking the five loaves and two fish, having looked up into 
heaven he blessed [them] and broke the loaves and was giving to the disciples that 
they set them before them, and the two fish he divided to all. 
\VS{42} And 
all ate and were filled, 
\VS{43} and they took up fragments twelve baskets 
full, and of the fish. 
\VS{44} And those who ate the loaves were five 
thousand men. 

\subsubsection{Walking on Water}
\VS{45} And immediately he brought his disciples to embark in 
the boat and to be going before [him] to the other side to Bethsaida until he 
disperse the crowd. 
\VS{46} And having taken leave of them he departed to 
the mountain to pray. 
\VS{47} And having become late the boat was in the 
midst of the sea, and he only on the land. 
\VS{48} And having seen them 
tormented in the advance, for the wind was against them, around the fourth 
watch of the night he comes to them walking on the sea, and he wanted to 
pass them by. 
\VS{49} But when they saw him upon the sea walking they 
supposed that: It is [a] phantasm\footnote{or ``ghost''},and they cried out, 
\VS{50} for all saw him and were unsettled. So immediately he spoke with 
them, and says to them: Take courage, It is I, Be not fearing. 
\VS{51} And 
he went up to them into the boat, and the wind ceased, and they were very 
amazed and marveled
\footnote{``amazed and marveled'' DW \koine{} many; ``amazed'' 
\sinaiticus{}B \vulgate{} } in themselves to excess, 
\VS{52} for they had not understood 
[about] the loaves, but their heart was hardened. 

\subsubsection{Healing the Sick}
\VS{53} And having crossed over 
to the land they came to Gennesaret and came into harbor. 
\VS{54} And when they 
came out of the boat immediately having known him 
\VS{55} they ran [about] that 
whole region and began to be carrying [about] on pallets those having [it] evil-ly, where they heard that he is. 
\VS{56} And wherever he entered into village, or into 
city, or into field, [or] in the market place they placed those being 
sick\footnote{or ``weak''}, and they were calling upon him that even the hem 
of his garment they may grasp; and whoever grasped it was saved.
