\subsection{II Peter 1}
\VS{1} Simon Peter, slave and apostle of Jesus Christ to those having obtained
equally valuable faith by the justness of our God and savior Jesus Christ,
\VS{2} grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and
Jesus our Lord.
\VS{3} As his divine ability has bestowed to us everything for zoe-life\fnZoe{} and
piety through the knowledge of the [one] having called us to his own glory and
excellence,
\VS{4} through which are bestowed to us the precious and great
promises, in order that through these you become partakers of [the] divine
nature, having escaped the corruption [that is] in the world in lust.
\VS{5} And
beside this, having applied all diligence, provide to you faith virtue, and
to [your] virtue knowledge,
\VS{6} and in [your] knowledge self-control, and in [your]
self-control endurance, and in [your] endurance piety,
\VS{7} and in your piety
brotherly-philia-love, and in your brotherly-philia-love agape-love.
\VS{8} For these [things] being in you and increasing make you neither idle nor fruitless in the knowledge of Jesus Christ,
\VS{9} for in whom these [things] are not present,
he is blind, being short-sighted, forgetting the cleansing of his old sins.
\VS{10} Therefore rather, brothers, be earnest to make your calling and
selection firm, for doing these [things] you will \negd{not} ever stumble.
\VS{11} For thus richly will be provided to you the entrance into the
eternal kingdom of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ.
\VS{12} Therefore I
will not always be ready\footnote{``ready": \hesychian{} D, ``negligent": \koine{} most} to be
reminding you concerning these [things], although [you] know [them] and are established in the
present truth.
\VS{13} So I consider it just, as long as I am in this tent,
to be arousing you in reminder,
\VS{14} knowing that the removal of my tent
is imminent, just as our Lord Jesus Christ revealed to me;
\VS{15} so I am
also earnest for you to be always able, after my departure, to be making
remembrance of these [things].
\VS{16} For not having followed cleverly devised
myths have we made known to you the ability and coming of our Lord Jesus
Christ, but having been eyewitnesses of his greatness.
\VS{17} For having
received from God [the] father honor and glory when such a voice was brought to
him by the magnificent glory: This is my agape-beloved son, in whom I have
been pleased,
\VS{18} and we heard this voice brought from heaven [when we] were with
him on the holy mountain.
\VS{19} And we have [a] more firm prophetic word, to
which you do well giving heed as to [a] light shining in [a] dark place, until the
day dawn and the morning star arise in your hearts.
\VS{20} Knowing this
first, that no prophecy of scripture is of its own interpretation,
\VS{21} for [the] prophecy was never brought by the will of men, but men from God spoke
being carried by [the] Holy Spirit.
