\subsubsection{Healing and Forgiving a Paralytic}
|
|
\VS{1} And having entered again into Capernaum during the day it was heard that he
|
|
is home.
|
|
\VS{2} And many were gathered so as no longer to be having space
|
|
for holding [any] not even at the door, and he was speaking the word to them.
|
|
\VS{3} And [some] come bearing to him [a] paralytic being carried by four.
|
|
\VS{4} And
|
|
not being able to bring [him] to him because of the crowd they unroofed the roof
|
|
where he was, and having dug [it] out they lower the stretcher on which the
|
|
paralytic was lying sick.
|
|
\VS{5} And Iesous having seen their belief he says
|
|
to the paralytic: Child, your sins are forgiven.
|
|
\VS{6} But some of the
|
|
scribes were there sitting and reasoning in their hearts: What does this
|
|
[one] speak in this manner?
|
|
\VS{7} [God] slanderer! Who is able to be forgiving sins
|
|
except one: God?
|
|
\VS{8} And immediately Iesous having known in his spirit
|
|
they are reasoning in this manner among themselves, he says to them: Why do
|
|
you reason these [things] in your hearts?
|
|
\VS{9} What is easier to say to the
|
|
paralytic: Your sins are forgiven, or to say: Rise and take up your
|
|
stretcher and be walking?
|
|
\VS{10} But in order that you may know that the
|
|
son of man has authority to be forgiving sins upon the land --- he says to
|
|
the paralytic:
|
|
\VS{11} To you I say, Arise, take up your stretcher and be
|
|
departing to your house.
|
|
\VS{12} And he was raised and immediately having
|
|
taken up the stretcher he went out in front of all so that all were amazed
|
|
and were glorifying God saying that: We never saw [anything] like this!
|
|
|
|
\subsubsection{The Call of Levi: Eating with Sinners}
|
|
\VS{13} And he
|
|
went out along the sea, and all the crowd was coming after him, and he was
|
|
teaching them.
|
|
\VS{14} And [while] passing by he saw Levi the [son] of Alpheus sitting at the
|
|
toll-house, and he says to him: Be following me. And after rising he
|
|
followed him.
|
|
\VS{15} And it comes to pass he [was] reclining in his house and
|
|
many tax-collectors and sinners were gathered with Iesous and his disciples,
|
|
for there were many, and they were following him.
|
|
\VS{16} And the scribes
|
|
from the Pharisees, having seen that he is eating with tax-collectors and
|
|
sinners, were saying to his disciples, [Why] is he eating with tax-collectors and
|
|
sinners?
|
|
\VS{17} And Iesous having heard [it] he says to them: The strong have no
|
|
need of a physician, but [rather] those having [it] evil-ly; I did not come to call just [ones] but sinners.
|
|
|
|
\subsubsection{The Superiority of the New}
|
|
\VS{18} And the disciples of Ioannes and the Pharisees were
|
|
fasting; and they come and say to him: Because of what do the disciples of
|
|
Ioannes and the disciple of the Pharisees fast, but the disciples with you do
|
|
not fast?
|
|
\VS{19} And Iesous says to them: Are the sons of the bridegroom
|
|
able, while the bridegroom is with them, to be fasting?\fnGrammarIndicatesNo{}
|
|
As much time they have the bridegroom with them, they are not able to be fasting.
|
|
\VS{20} But
|
|
days will come when the bridegroom be taken away from them, and then they
|
|
will fast in that day.
|
|
\VS{21} No one sews [a] patch from [a] piece of new cloth upon [an] old garment; but
|
|
if not, the new takes the fullness of it from the old, and it becomes [a] worse
|
|
tear.
|
|
\VS{22} And no one throws new wine into old skins; but if not, the new
|
|
will rend the skins and the wine pour out\footnote{``pour out" \sinaiticus{}W \vulgate{}
|
|
\koine{} most; omit: BD} and the skins perish. But [one] [throws] new wine into fresh skins.
|
|
|
|
\subsubsection{Lord of the Sabbaths}
|
|
\VS{23} And it came to pass he in the Sabbaths was passing through the
|
|
cornfields, and his disciples began to be making [a] path [while] plucking off ears of
|
|
corn.
|
|
\VS{24} And the Pharisees were saying to him: See [here], why do they do on
|
|
the Sabbaths what is not permitted?
|
|
\VS{25} And he says to them: Have you
|
|
not read what David did, when he had need, and he himself was hungry and
|
|
those with him?
|
|
\VS{26} How he went into the house of God in the time of
|
|
Abiathar [the] high priest and they ate the `Bread of the Setting Forth' that is
|
|
not permissible to eat except [for] the priests, and also gave to those being
|
|
with him?
|
|
\VS{27} And he was saying to them: The Sabbath came into being
|
|
because of man, and not man because of the Sabbath,
|
|
\VS{28} so that the son
|
|
of man is Lord of the Sabbath also.
